September 10, 1930 ~ December 27, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Funeral services for J. Neil Johnson, 87, a resident of Pullman, WA will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the Palouse Federated Church, N. 635 Bridge St. Palouse, WA with Pastor Corey Laughary officiating.   Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Palouse, WA.  Mr. Johnson passed away late Wednesday evening at his home in Pullman, WA

Neil was born on Sept. 10, 1930 at Potlatch, ID to John R. and Mary Inez (Thompson) Johnson.  He attended the Palouse schools and graduated from the Palouse High School in 1948.  Neil also attended the Eastern Washington University for 2 years.

He joined the United States Air Force on Jan. 2, 1951 and served during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged on Nov. 18, 1954.

Neil married Lila Wall on July 8, 1956 at Palouse, WA and the couple made their home at Palouse until moving to Pullman, WA in 1959.  Neil was employed at the Pullman Grange in July of 1956 and later became manager of the Pullman Grange and retired after 38 years of service to the Pullman Grange supply in 1994.  Neil also operated the Johnson Family Farm near Kamiak Butte at Palouse, WA

Neil loved most all sports, hunting, fishing, and trapshooting.  After his retirement he also enjoyed driving farm truck and tractors on the Norm Druffel and Sons farm.

He was a member of the American Legion, Cougar Club, Ewartsville Grange,  Pullman Moose Lodge, Pullman Lions Club, Elks Lodge, Pullman Chamber of Commerce, and Pullman Jay Cees. Neil was also a member of the 75th Air Depot Wing.

Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, Lila Johnson, Pullman, WA, Two sons, Bart Johnson and Ben Johnson both of Pullman, WA, one daughter, Karna (Wayne) Druffel, Pullman, WA, one brother, Cecil Johnson, Kennewick, WA.  Neil is also survived by two grandchildren, Kurt Druffel (Sarah) and Jackie (Jeremy) Hodson and three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Druffel, and a great granddaughter, Zoey Hodson.
