DANNY MARTIN PLATZ

My beloved husband and father of my children has gone to Heaven to be with God.  Danny M. Platz passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 at the Lewiston Transitional Care of Cascadia in Lewiston, ID.

 Danny Martin Platz was born on Sept. 23, 1932 at Viola, ID to Chauncey and Ellita May (Campbell) Platz.  He grew up near Camp Grizzly at Harvard, ID.  He attended grade school at Harvard, ID and the Potlatch High School.

Danny served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Lewis, WA from Nov. 11, 1953 and was discharged on Feb. 10, 1955 as a corporal served with the 135th Engineering C Battalion. 

After his service, Danny followed road construction in the Palouse Area.  Danny married Jane Symonds on June 14, 1958 at Fernwood, ID and the couple made their home at Viola, ID in 1962.  In 1972 the couple moved to Deary, ID where they had a small farm and raise cattle in the area. Mr. Platz was employed with United Paving Company as a truck driver for several years. In 1976, Danny purchased and repaired tractors for several years.  In 2009 the couple moved to Juliaetta, ID. when Danny became ill.

Survivors include his wife Jane at the Juliaetta home, two sons, Jack Platz and his wife Shirley, Kendrick, ID, Joseph M. Platz, Peck, ID.  Danny is also survived by 5 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia Ann Platz and Ellita Marie Platz. 

A graveside service for Danny M. Platz, 85, will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the Viola Cemetery, Viola, ID. with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Potlatch Post #10300 V.F.W. Potlatch, ID.  Memorials may be given to the Deary Ambulance Fund or to the donor's Choice.
